Western North Carolina is endowed with many diverse and naturally beautiful places. Artist living in our region respond in meaningful ways to their surroundings. We have invited a few of our favorites to show us how they see, capture and express views of their homeland.
This exhibition will feature a special focus on our regions's National Parks to coincide with the release of Ken Burn's new documentary "The National Parks: America's Best Idea". This six-episode television event about the creation of the national park system will air on PBS, UNC-TV beginning on September 27, 2009. Artwork with this focus will include photography, paintings and mixed-media birdhouses and feeders of historical buildings.
Woodworkers using southern hardwoods in their work will also be featured, including a family of wood turners and bowl carvers, a wood sculptor and several furniture makers.
